あらすじ
貧しい村の口減らしのため、山に捨てられる老女たち。しかしながら、山の裏側では、棄てられたはずの彼女たちが過酷な環境下で集落を作り、生きながらえていた。復讐を誓う者、静かな人生を願う者、移住を望む者・・・。様々な思いを胸に。
STORY
In accordance with custom, seventy-year-old Kayu is taken to a holy site to await death. She closes her eyes and prays to be taken to heaven, but is amazed to realize she has been surrounded by other elderly women who had previously been abandoned in the mountain and were thought to have died.

INTRODUCTION
An unorthodox action film from director Tengan Daisuke that takes its inspiration from the same "ubasuteyama" legend featured in his father Imamura Shohei's The Ballad of Narayama, which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Based on the novel of the same title by Sato Yuya, it follows the fate of an elderly woman who is forced to leave her village in order to reduce its population.
